Mind Boggling Insects Created Out Of One Sheet Of Paper

No one really knows how many insects there are on planet earth. The fact that they have located and named about 800,000 of them is no measurement of how many that are still out there waiting to be found. Just so you to get the scale of things, there are about 7,000-10,000 new species of insects reported, named and booked every year. As you can imagine, there could be a million more out there. There could even be ten million more insects that we haven’t seen or discovered yet. When it comes to paper though, the matter is a whole different story. I know, that is quite a wide turn going from insects to paper, right? But it has everything to do with insects as you will see.

Paper artist Brian Chan seems to be especially into insects when he creates his stunning art. With just a single sheet of paper, Brian manages to create something that I am sure you can’t even comprehend. He creates lifelike insects that you have to look real close at in order to determine if they are authentic or not. By authentic, I of course mean the real deal. This master of origami is something from another planet and so are his talents.

The creations range from crickets and bugs to flies. Every single one is created out of one single sheet of paper and an amazingly elaborate pattern that will truly make your head spin. I am sure these patterns are created using a computer somehow, but Brian is still the one who has to come up with the idea and the folds, and then he pushes it into the computer to print the pattern. From there it should just be to fold it as the template suggests, right? Well, I assure you, it doesn’t look too easy, and I guess you have to be Brian Chan in order to read these hieroglyphs. My mind started spinning when I first saw the cricket. As I got to the pattern, it completely shut itself off. It’s amazing work to say the least! There are a stunning number of origami insects on Brian’s website. I urge everyone to have a look.
