The world has celebrated some pretty iconic artists through the decades of music that we have enjoyed. The unfortunate curse of being a celebrity sometimes takes a different turn that what the majority of the population imagine. Some artists indulge in a destructive lifestyle while others suffer the consequences of unfortunate events. All in all, some of the world’s most legendary artists never had the pleasure of experiencing the comfort of old age.
I am sure most of us have at some point imagined some of these legendary artists making it to their golden years, and wondered what they would have looked like. Fortunately for us technology has progressed so much that we can take that imagination and put it onto a piece of paper for all to enjoy. One such effort comes from Sachs Media Group, and is a pristine example of how technology can be used to bring life into people that had it run out on them way too fast.
In collaboration with photo restoration and manipulation company Phojoe, Sachs Media Group decided to bring to life 12 of the world’s most legendary artists to celebrate their greatness and creativity once more. The project was straight forward, however, not easy as you might be able to image. With the help of old photographs, a lot of computing power and a fair bit of creativity and imagination, they were able to bring to life Elvis Presley, Kurt Cobain, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Jim Morrison and a whole lot more.
The project is not just a testament and celebration to the timeless music these legendary artists were able to dream up during their life, but also to the immense computing power that technology has been able to produce through intense innovation. Knowing we are now able to have 2Pac and other artists perform on stage from beyond the grave through holograms, I think it’s safe to say that we’ll see these legendary artists portrayed in this photo manipulation project perform once more as well. It’s just a matter of time.
