As Randy Jackson says on American Idol… “Dawg pound, we got a hot one tonight!” This unbelievable video has only been on YouTube for ten days, and it has almost 2 million views. I’d say that certainly qualifies as viral, and boy does it deserve it!
We are all familiar with Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal, right? It’s one of my favorite Michael Jackson videos, well, aside from Billie Jean and Thriller of course. In this video, two world famous cellists, Stjepan Hauser and Luka Sulic, reenact Smooth Criminal as dueling cellists.
Croatian cellist Stjepan is known as the “Magician of the Cello” and has won many international awards for his undeniable talent and showmanship. Luka, a young cellist, has also received numerous awards since he began competing in 2006. In addition to their obvious musical talent, their theatrics are spot on. This is truly brilliant. I would love to know what the inspiration behind this was. Where did they get such a creative idea? How did it all unfold? I don’t know the answers to these questions, but I do know that these two cellists have created a real masterpiece here. I enjoyed every minute of it. They make playing a cello look sleek and sexy, and I’ve never seen anything like this before. Wow.
