Almost All Social Media Gurus Are Clowns…

The title of this article may be quite a sting for some people, especially the social media gurus (or the ones that call themselves that). Whichever way you look at it though, it it’s actually true… at least according to Gary Vaynerchuk, the wine emperor who started from nothing, or almost at least.

I have followed Gary through his starlit career, and it’s been an inspiring journey to say the least. The energetic speaker and businessman really knows how to shake a crowd both ways, and it is with his constantly dynamic personality that he keeps us waiting for what’s to come next. On Twitter he has become a force, and through his books, he’s become somewhat of a thought leader.

Gary is easily mistaken for a motivational speaker, and to some extent he really is, but he is building a wine empire through his way of tearing down obstacles for other people. It might be hard to realize it or even to prove it, but I think Gary has been the inspiration for many of the success stories recently bursting onto the market in pretty much any area of business. Why? Well, because he will constantly tell you that whatever excuse or obstacle you have, it’s not big enough for you to not follow your dreams. It’s as simple as that, and that’s the red line through his ongoing saga of implementing the dream into the reality.

In a recent interview with TechCrunch, Mr. Vaynerchuk couldn’t hold back his frustration about the so called social media gurus. The result was a stinging comment where he said, “99.5%  of the people that walk around and say they are a social media expert or guru are clowns.Command Partners, a social media blog, caught this comment and decided to look a little further into it to see if there was any truth in the statement that Gary made. To everyone’s surprise, there was some, but I guess you will have to be the real judge of that for yourself.
