I have never been much of a boxing fan, but when Mike Tyson was active, I would watch the fights just to see how fast he would knock the poor guy out. He always amazed people in his glorious days, and I am sure many would consider him to be the best boxer that ever walked the planet. Sure, many would say Muhammad Ali is the best one, but as we have stated so many times before, everyone is of course entitled to their own opinion on the matter.
However, that’s not really what we are going to debate in this article. We are going to touch the subject of before and after images of fights in general. I respect the bravery some of these guys show whenever they have an upcoming fight. Knowing that you’ll be beaten half to death can’t be fun, and just being willingly go up there against a sledge hammer like Mike Tyson surely takes some courage, I am sure. We never really know what exactly it is that they go through. You’d have to become a boxer to find I guess.
The injuries they take with them after they leave the ring are more than enough to leave a memory or two of a great or a bad fight. Photographer and boxing enthusiast Nicolai Howalt decided to take a closer look at the state of the body before as well as after a fight and these images speak for themselves. They don’t represent the worst of beatings since that would be too gory, but they are from different weight classes, and you can still see what kind of damage you would sustain if you ever wanted to become a boxer. So, if after having looked at these photos you still want to become a boxer, then by all means good luck on your journey. It won’t be easy, and it won’t be pain free. If there were ever a profession where you take a daily beating, this would certainly have to be the top one.
