When I was in Bangkok, Thailand a couple of years ago, I had the opportunity to experience their wonderful and exciting culture. One thing that was quite amazing was that we saw a lot of vendors who were selling fried insects. I stopped by one of the carts to see what was being served. There were huge grasshoppers on a stick, and other bugs that were fried to a crisp. I am not a picky eater, but I was not brave enough or adventurous enough to try one.
I found a very unique snack to show you. These are Edible Toasted Giant Leafcutter Ants. The giant Leafcutter ants come from South, Central and North America. One interesting fact about these creatures is that they are high in protein and low in saturated fat. So if you get the munchies, these edible toasted goodies might be the best for you, especially if you are watching the carbs and fat in your diet. According to the packaging, they taste a bit like bacon too! They come in canisters, so they are easy to carry around. The only question is, are you hungry or brave enough to eat them?
