Another day another mashup! That’s how it is here at Bit Rebels, and we love it! As usual (and to stay true to our undefined series of mashups), we’re once again back with a Super Mario mashup that I think you guys are just going to love. We feature a lot of mashups here, and mostly they’ve been Star Wars and Hello Kitty. Even Barbie has gotten her fair share of the spotlight. When it comes to Super Mario, we know we haven’t saved our gunpowder, but we think there can never be enough mashups.
Even though Super Mario is quite “peaceful” (with the word peaceful meaning suitable for kids), there is now another level of awesomeness to the characters that we all know from the epic princess saving adventures that have taken us far and wide. How about some Street Fighter mashups in the world of Mario? That is exactly how far you can take the cute little “boinkers” characters that have come to be legendary in pretty much everyone’s minds.
Artist and illustrator Michael Musco certainly knows how to geek things up and make something that was already great even better. His series, called Super Mario vs. Street Fighter, shows Super Mario in a whole new light. This time around, they are going one on one with each other. If you have ever played the Street Fighter games, you know it’s all about kickin’ each other’s butts into the dirt. It’s a clever, funny and brilliant series of mashup pictures that would totally tickle my fancy of they ever made it into one of the Street Fighter games. Will it happen? I doubt it, but I can always dream, right? That is exactly what Michael does, and it resulted in this quite mesmerizing series of posters. Props!
