Happy Halloween! I sent a tweet this morning that said I am so happy it’s Halloween, not because I love Halloween, but because it marks the beginning of the Christmas season. Christmas is my favorite time of year, and I’m sitting here now wondering if it’s too early to put up my Christmas tree. But back to Halloween…If you have kids (or even if you don’t), you know that Halloween candy is a big deal. Since I’m a very experienced trick-or-treater, I’m about to share some secrets with you so you can not only maximize your Halloween candy, but also master the ancient art of trading Halloween candy.
All year long we whine about how much sugar we eat, and Halloween is the one day when all the rules and guilt go out the window. Today, there is only one rule – whoever gets the most Halloween candy wins. In order for you to maximize the amount of candy you come home with tonight, remember these few simple tips.
First, make sure you have a huge bag to collect your candy. Don’t walk up to someone’s door with a wimpy little plastic pumpkin. Do it right. Get a huge bag and open it wide. It will subconsciously invite them to drop more chocolates in there.
Next, if you come across someone who isn’t home, and if they’ve foolishly left a whole bowl of candy on the porch with a note that says “Please only take one,” dump the whole bowl of candy into your bag. Hey, if you don’t do it, the next person will.
Last but not least, if you find a house that’s giving out the extra good chocolates, hit them up twice. Trust me, they’re just trying to get through the night, and they are dumping candy in bags like drones. They’ll never notice you were just there fifteen minutes before.
After you’ve collected your massive bag of candy, it’s time for the real fun to begin. It’s time to sit down with your friends or brothers and sisters to start the annual Halloween candy swap. This viral video, narrated by Ze Frank, is the ultimate guide for trading your Halloween candy. It will teach you everything you need to know, and you’ll get a good laugh along the way. Halloween candy #ftw!
