It’s almost time for The Walking Dead again, and if you’re a fan, you can barely wait until October 13. It’s one of the only shows on television that I watch. It’s so good, and if you haven’t seen it, you can get caught up on Netflix. One thing the marketers for that show have been really good at is creating clever promotions to raise awareness about the show. This time around, you can register for free classes online.
These classes are for anyone who wants to learn the necessary survival skills for a zombie apocalypse. I remember before season 3 started, they came out with the Dead Yourself app. It was an app that kept me entertained for a whole weekend. You can see some pics and learn more about it at Make Anyone A Walker With The Walking Dead App. As far as I can tell, the marketers of the show aren’t who is behind these free classes (I could be wrong about that), but regardless, it’s a brilliant idea.
The funny thing is, although it’s a bit cheeky, apparently they have some really useful information they’ll be sharing. The free classes will be taught by Dr. Joanne Christopherson, Dr. Michael Dennin, Dr. Sarah Eichhorn and Dr. Zuzana Bic, who is a public health specialist. All of these lecturers currently teach at the University of California, Irvine.
They recommend that you set aside 2 – 4 hours per week to study the course material, but they’re convinced you’ll be so interested in it that you’ll spend more time than that. They will cover many topics including how infectious diseases are spread, human behavior as it relates to stress during disaster situations, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, social roles in an emerging world and more. All of the course material will be based on situations experienced on The Walking Dead. Just click on the link below to enroll in these free classes. How fun (and educational)!
