Social Media Checklist For Businesses [Infographic]

As we’ve said many times before, social media is a lot different now than it was a few years ago. Although every person and every brand starts at the same place in social media, there are two very different perspectives which can change the entire experience altogether.

First, there are those people and brands who have been on Twitter and Facebook for a long time. Maybe they signed up for those services in 2008, 2009 or 2010. Those people have had the opportunity to get acclimated to each new social media service as it comes out, and each time a new one gets popular (like Pinterest), they find a way to incorporate it into their already busy social media schedule.

Then there are those people and brands who may feel a little late in getting started, and they don’t feel like they have time to take it all in gradually like we did. They need to get engaged in the community quickly, and they jump in on several social media sites at once. For those people, the learning curve is steep. It takes a big dose of patience and dedication to really grasp each site individually, and hitting them all at once can be almost overwhelming.

For people who are going through this, the good news is, everyone stumbles and has to feel their way around social media when they first get started. It’s okay! Just be yourself and take it one day at a time. For brands going through this, it’s a little different than it is for individual people. People are not as forgiving of brands, and there is an expectation that brands know what they are doing in social media.

If your business needs help with this, I have just the thing for you. This is the best social media checklist I’ve seen in a long time. A lot of these types of infographics say things like “engage in social media” but they don’t say how often or on which site specifically. This infographic, called Sensible Social Media Checklist For Businesses created by The Whole Brain Group, is very detailed, and it will guide you through exactly what to do until you get the hang of it.

If your business is just now getting started in social media, you do have one advantage that none of us had back in the day when we started. You have resources like this that will help you along the way. Back in 2008 and 2009, there weren’t many resources online about it, and everyone was just kind of on their own. Now the Internet is filled with all kinds of guides and tutorials about social media. If you’ve got the time to take it all in, you can get a wealth of information at a very accelerated rate.
