Twitter’s Dirty Little Secret… [Infographic]

There are so many things about Twitter that we don’t know, and most certainly shouldn’t know.  What has always amazed me is the weird behavior some people display as soon as a company becomes successful.  It’s like they have an obligation to show and tell exactly everything that is going on behind the scenes.  I mean, look at the monetization issues Twitter supposedly had in the beginning.  People kept saying they had to reveal their plan and so forth within a certain amount of time.

Sure, if you’re a shareholder in the company, you certainly should have that information.  However, what right do you have to peak behind the curtain of you’re only a user that gets the service for free?  I think that the guys, especially Jack Dorsey, have displayed a great sense of innovation and optimization in the way they have grown Twitter through the years.  If they have a plan, they have a plan, simple as that.  Twitter is one of the largest social networking sites because of a reason, it doesn’t have to be trickier than that.

When using their platform, I can’t help but wonder about the numbers they are crunching.  Yeah, I am one of those people who wants to know, but I would never demand it if you know what I mean.  I am sure there are few people who know exactly what the numbers are when it comes to Twitter, but there are ways to figure it out and guess some numbers and still get within a ballpark of how successful Twitter is exactly.

That’s when I started to look around.  There are some rather interesting numbers being thrown around, especially those that are whispering about the number of followers people have.  If you follow someone, you at some point expect them to follow you back.  That has become the moral sense of the whole thing.  However, there is a little secret hiding behind that Twitter curtain that you will be quite surprised about when revealed.  According to the data provided by PureWire, Twitter has a dirty secret for you.  This Infographic was put together by designer Michael Neff.
