9 Tips To Help You Keep Your Internet Footprint Private [Infographic]

It almost feels silly to write an article about how to keep your Internet footprint private since it’s a push to say there is any true privacy online at all. However, if you are concerned about your Internet privacy, there are some things you can do to maintain some sort of semblance of privacy. These 9 tips don’t suggest that you radically change what you’re already doing. These are just small things you can start implementing to somewhat mask your Internet footprint from prying eyes.

I was just telling someone the other day that it seems like if a person can resist ever opening a Facebook account, that’s a big step towards privacy. Once you join Facebook, you are officially counted and part of the matrix. Since Facebook, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, AOL and many others have admitted to monitoring our Internet usage, it’s definitely an uphill battle to mask your Internet footprint.

In other words, the default setting in our lives is that we have no privacy. Of course we could argue that it should be the other way around, but that’s not how the world works (at least right now). This infographic is called 9 Tips For Keeping Your Internet Usage Private (by WhoIsHostingThis?), and it offers some great tips for people who don’t want to be tracked online.

As always, WhoIsHostingThis has provided a high quality blog post to accompany their infographic, and if you’d like more information on this topic, I suggest clicking over on their link to read it. Not only will these tips help you maintain a bit of Internet privacy, but they’ll also reduce your risk of being hacked. I mean, we should all use HTTPS and be wary of the public wi-fi at McDonald’s if we don’t want to get hacked. That kind of stuff should always be in the backs of our minds, even if we aren’t so concerned about masking our Internet usage.
