We’ve seen a lot of creative yet gimmicky computer mice get released over the past few years, but this one might have enough steam behind it to get moving. Maybe. The easiest way I know to describe it to you is that it’s like a mini version of the Kinect. In other words, your finger is to this mouse what your body is to the Kinect.
This Celluon evoMouse Pet mouse does so much, I could really put together an argument for why it isn’t a mouse at all. To me, it’s a combination of a trackpad and a touch tablet, which could be used to replace the standard mouse. With this, you can control the cursor, double click, drag, select, right click, rotate, zoom, scroll, draw, write, etc… with hand gestures.
It connects to your computer by Bluetooth or USB port. Supposedly this device also helps relieve painful computer stress problems like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome because you can move your hand in more natural ways. This is very similar to the Invisible Mouse which circulated the Internet last year. Although this new one is waaaay more geeky and fun looking. It kinda looks like a little pet dog.
When I really stop to think about it, unless I’m sitting at my desk, I hardly ever use a mouse anymore anyway. I wonder if someday the computer mouse will be a thing of the past. We’ll probably look back and wonder why we ever used something so cumbersome anyway. There is no word yet on the exact date this will be released. [There is also an accompanying Magic Cube which projects a laser keyboard]
