How To: Add a Camera to Your iPad

Many people have complained that the iPad lacks a lot of things. This includes a flash memory slot, USB outputs and a camera just to name a few. Apple has yet to step up their game to show their customers that these are things they are working on, so as of right now, these are not a part of an upgrade. However, for everyone that knows Apple and has followed their announcements of upgrades, you know that Apple will probably roll out these features one by one and make a buck out of it. Who wouldn’t want to buy a new iPad with a camera on it, even if you have the first one?

Well, some people got really tired of this and decided to do something about it. The solution is quite simple. All you have to do really is to bluetooth connect an iPhone and an iPad and you have a fully working camera interface on you iPad. Sound complicated? It really isn’t.

As a matter of fact, it’s as simple as downloading a new app on your iPhone and iPad, and you’re all set to go. The app you should download is Camera-A to your iPad and Camera-B to your iPhone. What Yusuke Sekikawa has been able to do is to develop a software that through bluetooth lets you see the transmitted image from your iPhone camera straight on your iPad. Now you have an iPad with a working camera… or close to it.

Sure this hack is a few weeks old, but I thought it was a pretty nifty solution so worthy of being mentioned here on Bit Rebels. I wouldn’t go and brag about the resolution though as it is the same one as on the iPhone. There have been many apps in the App Store that have claimed that they can enhance the resolution by software, which of course isn’t possible. The mega pixels are on the phone, and can’t be changed unless you switch out the camera itself… at least to my humble knowledge.
