SEO For Dummies: A Beginner’s Infographic

I know, SEO is boring, right? I used to think that too. I used to think that I would rather poke my eyeballs out with an ice pick than learn SEO, but not anymore. Let me explain. I never wrote a blog post before coming here to Bit Rebels in the summer of 2009. Since then, I’ve written about 1,200 posts, and I’ve learned a lot along the way. If you have a blog, I’m sure you know and probably learned faster than me that there is a lot more to the whole process than just typing the words.

That is one of the reasons I contribute on the blog that teaches people everything they need to know about blogging called Ink Rebels. The purpose of that blog is to share that knowledge with others because it is not common sense. If you are an avid blogger, one of the things you’ll probably dabble in along the way is HTML. Recently, Richard wrote an article that included The Ultimate HTML 5 Cheat Sheet. It’s a must have handy little guide for HTML in an infographic format. It’s totally helpful!

Another aspect of blogging that you will probably encounter is SEO or search engine optimization. I will be the first to admit that SEO sounds scary and hard. I thought that for a long time. However, if you just look at it as the search engines want you to do things a certain way, and if you can figure out what those things are and comply, you will be rewarded greatly by gaining many additional visitors each day. It’s worth it to take a look at SEO and how you can make it work to your advantage.

The infographic below, courtesy of Data Dial, is a good starting point to become familiar with some of these terms. If you are a newbie, I would suggest further researching each one of these words on Google to get a better understanding of each term. This SEO and Viral Marketing Checklist will also help you a lot! Once you get the hang of it, properly doing your SEO becomes a daily habit, and it’s no big deal. Trust me, if I can do it, you can do it. Really!
