The Portable Hard Drive Inspired By An Italian Racecar

Since I own an Apple certified consulting company in Atlanta, I work with hard drives all day long. For the most part, from a visual perspective, they are boring. I’ve never really thought about it before today, but there is so much opportunity there for a creative designer to do something really fun with the body of a hard drive.

Well, apparently, that is exactly what Silicon Power has recently done, and wow, it’s beautiful. This USB 3.0 interface, 2.5-inch portable hard drive, which will come in 320GB, 500GB, 640GB and 750GB capacity is absolutely stunning. The USB 3.0 interface has a 5 Gbps/sec bandwidth (10x the bandwidth of a USB 2.0 interface). In plain English, this means you’ll be able to backup your files so friggin fast you won’t believe it. And, yes, it is compatible with a USB 2.0.

Called the Stream S10, this drive is 30% lighter in weight than other 2.5-inch portable hard drives on the market today. Ok, now for more about the Italian racecar part of the equation… this little beauty sports LED lights, which turn blue upon connection and flash when transferring data. The design itself is curvy, sleek and shiny, just like a racecar should be. You can read all the specific features on the Silicon Power website. Oh yeah baby! I will own one of these sexy little pieces of technology heaven the moment it’s released. As of the time of this post, the date these will become available has not yet been announced, although, I can tell you it will be soon!
