The trend seems to be that we’ll soon be wearing our computers on our heads. Google announced last year that they are working on a pair of augmented reality glasses. Not too long after that, a bunch of other companies decided to jump on the bandwagon as well. The Google Glass project spawned a lot of interest and expectations when it was presented. It’s like something about it connected with us in a profound way. That has always been the case with technology that is founded on science fiction inspiration. But Google is not the only one working on these types of gadgets. Recently the Golden-i project shared some updates, and once again, it’s seemed too good to be true. They showcased their voice controlled headset computer that, by the looks of it, could soon take over our everyday lives.
The Golden-i project isn’t by any extent of the imagination new, but this time it came with a bunch of updates. The Golden-i version 3.8 announcement speaks of a future much like the one we have seen in science fiction movies as of late, like police officers wearing headset augmented reality glasses that will instantly tell them who they are talking to for example. There’s no doubt this would be a very useful device out in the field, especially since it is entirely voice controlled.
It’s like Total Recall suddenly became our reality in the blink of an eye. The computer itself seems to be quite powerful and has many impressive (and futuristic) features that will have anyone raise their eyebrows. The voice controlled Golden-i headset computer could be used in many different professions, not just by police officers. It’s basically a device to speed up our computational power in the field. It basically means that we can stay connected no matter where we are by having access to all kinds of instant information. This voice controlled computer is a tool that will no doubt change our reality in many ways. However, with technology getting progressively smaller, this voice controlled device should be able to get a lot less bulky and maybe someday become as sleek as the Google Glass glasses. Either way, having a voice controlled computer on your head wherever you go certainly has its benefits, no matter how you look at it. The price tag for the Golden-i isn’t too bad either since it is hovering around $2,500 and $3,000. Let the future enter our lives.
