If you live in a city that has a subway or bus transportation system, you know how frustrating it can be to find your charlie card whenever you need it. If you don’t know what a charlie card is, it’s the little card you swipe to get passed those pesky turnstiles, also called baffle gates, in order to actually get anywhere. Keeping it in your wallet will only make it more annoying since you will have to bust it out every time you hop on a new transportation vehicle.
A team of young innovators has taken it upon themselves to create a better way to swipe the RFID strip near the identifier. The team calls themselves the Ring Theory, and they have developed a ring that has an inbuilt charlie card. It’s quite a nifty little thing that could very well become a success. With millions of people using public transportation everyday to haul their behind to and from work, this charlie card ring is almost destined to be a popular travel accessory.
The charlie card ring, called Sesame Ring, can pretty much have any front face design. The team behind it urges people to send in their ideas. As long as the designs submitted are not offensive, they will be considered for the final batch of rings to be produced. This charlie card ring definitely has huge potential all over the world since most transportation uses the RFID technology to more quickly help commuters pay and board their choice of public transportation.
However, this ring is in need of funding in order for the team to buy their own 3D printers and tools to manufacture the rings to look like the designs they will decide on. This is why they have started a Kickstarter campaign looking to raise $5,000. Let’s just say that the charlie card ring is already a sure card, literally. With over 17 days to go, the campaign has already managed to raise over $10,000 and is rapidly raising more. If you want to be one of the people who is sporting one of these awesome rings, all you need to do is pledge a mere $20.00 and you will have one of these badboys once the campaign is over.
