World’s Smallest Atari 2600 Fits Inside An M&M Mini Container

Modders might be some of the most creative technology geeks out there. They continuously try to push the envelope to new heights. If it doesn’t have to do with the way their gadgets look, it’s the way they run or even the size they are. Everyone knows by now that size doesn’t really matter, right? But when it comes to gadgets, that really doesn’t scale in our minds. The smaller something is, the better we believe it is. After all, if someone spent the time to make something as small as possible then by all means it should be good as well. However, nothing could be farther from the truth. Well, almost anyway.

When it comes to retro technology like consoles, the size can always be messed about with. If you were to check out the recently created mod by Dablio, you would quickly notice that what was before housed in a large console shell can now fit snugly inside an M&M Mini container. Yup, that is right, Dablio actually reverse engineered an Atari 2600 and cropped it down to something that could easily fit in your pocket.

Even the VGA connector (or as it is also called, the RF Modulator) is larger than the console itself. When he added a cartridge port to the thing, you really start to notice how small he’s been able to make it. Even though this thing is probably as small as you can make the Atari 2600, it’s now the games that are taking up all the space. Crop those down into a RAM (shouldn’t be too hard, right) and then use a flash stick to incorporate into it, and the build could be even smaller. This is definitely the world’s smallest Atari 2600, for now. As we know, there are always people out there who come up with more mind blowing stuff. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if someone is up for the challenge of making an even smaller one. Anyone?
