Art Created by Greedy Real Estate Developers

Where I live, in Atlanta, you can still see signs of a strained economy in many areas. There are still “For Sale” signs on most streets, many of the partially built condominium buildings downtown and in midtown still sit empty and the homeless population is still very prevalent. However, many signs of new beginnings are also easy to find.

In South Florida, on the other hand, it is a whole different story. Unlike Atlanta where some areas of growth can be found, in South Florida, they seem to be having a more difficult time recovering. I love South Florida, specifically the Miami area, and I certainly don’t want to criticize such a beautiful place; however, the greed of developers in that area is no secret to anyone. I’m sure an economist/real estate expert could explain exactly why this is true, but that isn’t the point of this article.

I’m here to show you some Google Earth aerial photographs, which look like artwork created by these developers. I was taken aback by these for a few reasons. First of all, I’m blown away by how densely populated some of these neighborhoods are. I’m also a little surprised at the lack of creativity shown here. However, most of all, I find these photographs very interesting in an artistic way.

As one person commented in the original Boston.com article, “The greed of the developers here is shown in an ironically beautiful way.” Yep, that pretty much sums it up for me too. In the end, I would still enjoy living in South Florida. It’s a magical place full of culture. It’s like its own little planet.
