When brands and companies first start trying to master the social media landscape, one of the first things they do is try to get a dedicated following. This task is not only the first one, but the most important one as well in order to succeed. As we have said many times before, it is not the easiest thing to achieve if you don’t know where to start. Social networking services like Facebook and Twitter are of course great platforms to start with. They are both easy to get your head around and offer a lot in return if you start off on the right path. There are plenty of things that you can do in order to increase your influence and pull on these platforms if you just know how to utilize some of their more powerful features.
Facebook in particular offers a lot of different ways to make yourself seen if you’re just creative enough to use the features well. Thinking outside the box is something that could make even the most boring campaign a lot more fun for your fans to look at. The number of fans you have is the one thing that ultimately tells people how popular your brand is. Racking up a lot of fans is not a difficult task in itself. There are plenty of “services” out there that will promise you 1,000 fans instantly if you pay them a certain amount of money. It might sound like a great idea; however, I wouldn’t recommend that route no matter what.
You want your fans to be genuine and interacting, and just having a certain number won’t make that happen. You want to have fans who really enjoy what you have to offer and so they took the time to click the “Like” button on your Facebook page. Buying Facebook fans is a loss in my eyes. You want to be able to reach out to your “fans” and get a genuine response to what you ask them instead of an echoing silence that will most likely only make you feel like you haven’t done your job right.
KISSmetrics put together a rather inspiring piece of infographic that will definitely help you understand the importance and the concept of having a fan base on Facebook. It especially outlines 7 different ways you can grow your fan base, and what makes people become fans in the first place. This infographic called The Importance Of A Fan Base is something I would suggest anyone have a look at if they are interested in making an impact on Facebook.
Always know that personal and friendly interaction with your fan base is the best way to make sure you are always in line with what your fans expect from you. Sometimes it can be hard to keep up to date with what people think of what you are offering them. If you have a social network that allows you to tap into that information, you are way more likely to succeed than if you stay blind to what people are both thinking and saying about your products or services. Human interaction is what will get you fans. Show them you care and that you will do everything in your power to satisfy their needs, and you will see that your following will probably double in size much faster than you thought it could.
