iPicture & iLens Make The iPhone Camera Feel Dated

When rumors flourish in the tech community on the Internet, it often times has something to do with Apple. Throughout the years, it’s almost like Apple has put rumors into a promotion system in order to make their reveal covered more by the media. Some things have of course been pure fiction, but every once in a while, there are things that are “leaked” that turn out to be the exact thing Apple is working on. I would dare to say the iPicture and iLens concept is not one of those leaks.

Many things that come from Apple are stylized to the last nanometer. Maybe that’s why everyone is trying to add their own touch to the Apple product lineup. Even though they are just concept ideas, they are usually quite interesting to behold. It doesn’t really matter if the iPicture and iLens will never become reality, the mere brainstorming and dedication that has been put into creating these renders more than make up for the fiction value in this concept.

The iPicture and iLens is a concept designed by conceptual artist Rishi Soman, and it can only be described as an original take on a camera that would fit somewhere between an amateur’s and a professional’s camera choice. It gives a very solid impression, and at the same time it speaks of great modular possibilities that we don’t usually see in camera systems these days. Sure, you can switch the lenses out and whatnot, but not much more than that. The iPicture and iLens camera debuts the full scale app possibilities in cameras.

Hopefully the iPicture and iLens will nudge camera developers into an area where apps become a more important part in analog as well as digital cameras. It communicates through an NFC connection which makes for a whole lot more interesting way you can use your camera. The ultra slim iPicture camera house design and the square modular design of the iLens makes for a perfect mobile companion for photographers who are out and about. Maybe one day we’ll see this concept realized, but I strongly doubt it will ever come from Apple.
