Vacuum cleaners are boring, aren’t they? They are noisy, cumbersome and collect nasty dust. I’m so happy to see someone do something inspiring with a couple of vacuum cleaners.
13-year-old Hibiki Kona has always wanted to be just like Spiderman. He took his dream, five months, and two $22 recycled vacuum cleaners and made it happen!
He created a wall climbing apparatus complete with sucker pads out of those vacuums. He mounts his homemade gadget onto himself with a backpack, and up the wall he goes! He has learned how to change the amount of suction to move around the walls as he likes.
The only downside to his device is that it has to stay plugged in to operate, so he can only go as high as the cords will allow. However, that problem can be fixed with a few extension cords, right? He said, “My mum thinks it’s brilliant but she won’t let me use it in my bedroom as she is worried I may pull down the ceiling.” Of course, when he first told people he planned to make this machine they were skeptical, but he didn’t listen, and he stayed the course. I love it Hibiki!
