I know several people who save the wine corks from the bottles of wine they open long after the wine is gone. I do that too. I’m not sure why. There is a sentimental value for each cork since it can bring back special memories from the night that bottle was opened, but I think I save mine more because I always think I’ll find a way to recycle and reuse the cork.
So far though, I’m left with about a dozen wine corks that have accumulated over the past year or two in a kitchen drawer. When I saw these little wine cork robots, my mind was flooded with so much inspiration for my wine corks again. Suddenly I had several different ideas for what I could do with them. These are the cutest little robots ever. What a great way to recycle and reuse old wine corks.
Reddish Studio and Monkey Business Design collaborated to create this collection called Corkers. There are 4 different designs, and each one has a name. There’s Yuri (a hero), Bella (cute but deadly), Willy (a speed freak) and Luke (who’s friendly if you feed him). If you want to make your own cork robots, you can buy the body parts here on Animi Causa. Each set includes the body parts to make one corker and costs $7.99.
Imagine how much fun it would be to turn your next special wine cork into a little robot that you could sit on your desk at work. Perhaps this will give you renewed inspiration to save your wine corks and do something fun with them. If you want to see what someone else did to recycle his wine corks, check out the Cork Pants & Jacket. Yup, he made clothes with them. Well, if you call that clothes. Good luck!
