Thrilling Paper Sculptures That Make A Lasting First Impression

Even though fright night season is over, and we can once again breathe normally without having to worry about being scared out of our senses, there is always room for some thrills. Wouldn’t you agree? Quite a while ago, I wrote an article here on Bit Rebels about the haunting creativity in some scary papercraft portraits. Those still pop into my mind from time to time when I’m watching a scary movie, or when I see something that might be related to it in some odd way. This is somewhat of a continuation of that article with the same kind of thrilling approach to it. I’m not talking about the article itself, but rather the way the artist is able to create something utterly thrilling out of some paper and a brilliant imagination.

The artist, Nick Georgiou, is one of those artists who you really don’t understand but still enjoy the work he presents. This is by no means a negative way of looking at it, it’s quite the opposite. What I am trying to say I guess is that when you look at Nick’s art, you get struck by a sense of a soul in the object in front of you. It’s like it is looking back at you. It is the clever way Nick uses the paper to create depth.

The shadows and darkness of the tubular eyes and the texture the layered paper expresses is enough for us to feel that something is not like it should be. It’s scary somehow, and I get touched by this kind of artwork easily. In my previous article, I presented a lot of different portraits and creations. To put it mildly, Nick has been quite creative since then, and this is the work that has been rolling out from the, as I take it that it is, studio. Let yourself be drawn into the magical land of a thriller, and don’t come back out before you know exactly what the brilliance is behind all of these art pieces. I am still looking for a way out though… It’s complicated, I tell you!
