I remember back in the spring I wrote about a website called Brutal Knitting dedicated to very scary and creepy knitted masks and hats by designer Tracy Widdess. I don’t know if it’s Tracy who actually gets the credit for coming up with such a creative idea, but it seems there is another artist on the scene making some waves with similar designs. I wanted to share them with you because they are equally as wild, wacky and fun.
In these pictures, you’ll see the creations of designer Aldo Lanzini. In this interview on Vogue Italia, he says that they are “the condition of contemporary man, some kind of conscious schizophrenia.” The bright colors, strange shapes and very unusualness in these masks make me feel uncomfortable and uneasy. It’s almost like something you’d see at a masquerade ball. I just want to rip them off these heads to see the faces.
Each one of Aldo’s designs is one-of-a-kind. This would be the perfect Halloween costume for me. I could just slip on one of these masks, and I have no doubt I’d scare every kid in a ten mile radius. Awesome. Aldo said, “A needle in my pocket is lighter than a hammer.” You can learn more about him and see more of these designs on his website.
