After a few years, they will pay for themselves, so use this option only if you are somewhat established and you’re sure the investment will be worth it. Once solar panels are installed, they are extremely low-maintenance and last for decades. They can even get you a tax break! If you’re a small start-up that can’t afford solar panels just yet, using natural lighting in the office is just a simple way to use less electricity during the day.

Bringing in an energy consultant may seem like an unnecessary expense, but they will be able to point out the places where you consume excess energy you might not be able to notice yourself. This may be needed annually, but don’t slack the rest of the year. Which brings us to the last point…
