People who know me well know that I’m not a crafty kind of girl. It’s just not my thing. I even send shirts out when the buttons need to be replaced. It’s bad. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve tried, really I have. Over time, I’ve just come to accept that things like sewing and glue mix with me like oil does with water. It just ain’t happening.
It’s still fun to write about that stuff though, especially over the holidays. If I can find the time, I could just imagine sitting next to the Christmas tree with a cup of hot chocolate (or a beer) making homemade snow globes or some fabric pinecones. So far, it hasn’t happened, but you never know.
Every year there are those people who are disgustingly organized, and they have all their shopping done by the beginning of December. Those are usually the same people who send out super creative holiday cards with family photos where everyone is wearing matching clothes. I have a feeling that Elizabeth Giorgi, the blogger behind Being Geek Chic, is one of those people.
All joking aside, Elizabeth came up with a brilliant tutorial for how to make stitched holiday cards. Not only do these cards look so much nicer than standard holiday cards, she was able to make 50 of them for only $9! You can read exactly how she did it on DIY Weekend: Stitched Photo Holiday Cards. These are great, now if I could just get that darn thread through the needle…
