We write a lot of articles about design on Bit Rebels, and you would think that as much as design tools have advanced over the past few years, getting business cards for a company would be a piece of cake. Unfortunately, that’s not usually the case. Of course, if you are a Photoshop wizard and you have several hours to come up with something creative, that might work for you. On the other hand, if you have to find a designer and a printer just to get some professional looking business cards, well, the process can seem overwhelming.
I was recently introduced to Marinelle over at UPrinting, an online printing company, and she showed me an easy design tool that I definitely thought was worth sharing with you. Anyone can use this tool to create very professional looking business cards that look like they were designed by a seasoned pro. I was first interested in learning more about UPrinting when I read about their eco-friendly process for printing. They use only vegetable and soy-based inks with lower levels of VOCs than traditional inks. This social awareness is good for the environment and their employees since they are reducing harmful carbon emissions. They also offer recycled paper as an option, and we like that!
UPrinting also has a Printing Sponsorship Program for non-profits, charities, churches and schools. Through this program, they’ve gifted their printing services to the American Red Cross, United Breast Cancer Foundation, Open Hearts for Orphans and many more very deserving organizations. The free design tool they’ve created for making business cards is also something that will be helpful for a lot of people who don’t have access to Photoshop or other expensive software. I’ve put some photos of the process below, but you can click over to Make Your Own Business Cards to get the full tutorial.
With prices starting as low as $20, you can design your own cards with as much creativity as you can muster. You have tons of templates to choose from, you can have the front and back printed if you like, you can have the orientation of the card be however you want, and you can even have the entire card proofed for errors by their team, and that’s before you enter a credit card or pay any money. I’ve never heard of a company doing that before. If you don’t have a logo or a background image, you can even choose something from their stock photography selection.
It’s very refreshing to hear about a company that is environmentally conscious, that supports non-profits, and that offers such high quality printing for very inexpensively. We are happy to support UPrinting on Bit Rebels, and we hope you’ll consider them the next time you need some business cards!
