Anyone who has ever tried to work efficiently on a smartphone knows how annoying it can be. Not only is the size of the screen too small, but there is no physical keyboard, at least not on most smartphones. The bane of a touchscreen is ever more apparent when we look at the ways apps are refined and optimized. But if you’re set on making the smartphone your one mobile device, the Casetop could potentially be what you are looking for.
The Casetop is a new innovation and startup that wants to change the way we work on our smartphones. One of the really great things about it is that it works with virtually every smartphone on the market. All you have to do is insert your smartphone into the Casetop, and it will start working like a speedy laptop. The physical keyboard will make your work not only more efficient, but more optimized as well. The touchscreen on your smartphone will work as a trackpad, which will make you feel right at home if you have ever worked on a laptop before.
When the Casetop is fully finalized, it will retail for around $250.00, which for most people is a bit much. But then again, if you are set on using your smartphone as your only mobile work device, the Casetop is definitely something you should consider. It comes in several different colors, at least the front of it, and the keyboard looks to be modeled around the critically acclaimed Apple keyboard and used both as a separate device as well as the keyboard on their MacBook laptops.
The Casetop is not yet a consumer product. The developers are looking for funding through Kickstarter. Livi Design, the founding company of the Casetop, is looking to raise $300,000 in order to ensure an initial production batch of 1,000 units. With 27 days to go and almost $50,000 raised already, it doesn’t seem to be an impossible task. It is up to the pledgers now to decide whether this product is going to become a reality or not. Have a look at the presentation video and see if the Casetop is something you would like to use in your future mobile profession.
