You know how people wear their favorite band’s t-shirt and how some have become almost as popular as some of the world’s most recognized clothing brands? Well, in an attempt to flip it around a little bit, graphic designer and illustrator Butcher Billy decided to change the past into a new series of cool photos of rockstar legends wearing bands of today’s t-shirts. It is quite creative and gives popular bands another push towards everlasting stardom.
I have personally always enjoyed new and creative ways to turn reality on its head. What Butcher Billy has been able to do is of course immensely creative, but it also speaks of the pretty advanced skills he possesses in software like Photoshop. To change the print on a t-shirt or a photograph is not easy and it becomes even harder to when the photo was taken decades ago.
The execution of these photographs and how Butcher Billy has been able to implement today’s band names onto rockstar legends of yesterday’s t-shirts is as mesmerizing as photography can get. Not to mention the choices that Billy has made for each of these rockstar legends. It brings up a curious question, don’t you think? Would these rockstar legends really like the bands whose t-shirts they are wearing or are they far-fetched guesses?
This photo series is called Reversed Music Icons, and if it goes viral it could change or at least confuse the next generation into thinking these bands co-existed. It is not often that a photo series could have such a profound impact on the future, but this one certainly could. We here at Bit Rebels would definitely like to see more rockstar legends get their t-shirts switched out, and we’re hoping Butcher Billy keeps adding to this photo series. I mean these past rockstar legends need to switch out their sweaty t-shirt every now and again, don’t you think? What combination rockstar legend and t-shirt would you pair together if you had the skills that Butcher Billy has? Let us know in the comment section below.
